I've always loved the dummies series of books. (Not that I managed to finish any of them). They have a way of making any tough subject look far simpler.
I never imagined that I'd be writing something like this though. This might be considered to be a big piece of junk. And I'm not sure about the status of my own dissertation either. So just consider this as a sort of guide, for the mistakes to avoid while writing a dissertation (albeit in a lighthearted way)
Part I
So, now you're the fresh Postgraduate, straight out of the churning machine of some coaching centre. You're in high spirits, because now your future is quite settled, (at least, till you realise it's the opposite) you're planning to get married, the future seems promising.
But, what's that?? you're just back from a Research Methodology workshop. You're all fired up about making ground breaking discoveries, get the Nobel Prize, become world famous.. (or, like me you just wonder how on earth all of this could be even possible. Everybody seems to get good ideas for research, while you're blocked. No amount of thinking is able to fix it) 😕
Now you're either raring to go with your mind bursting forth with ideas, or you've returned to the Department with a heavy heart and leaden feet. They've asked you to submit the dissertation protocol.
If you're the bright student, who has already done the ICMR projects and all that..then this isn't for you. If otherwise, you may proceed.
If your ground breaking 'SMART' ideas fail the green boxes, please rethink a hundred times before proceeding. If you realise you've come to terms with the harsh reality, go back to the blue boxes.
Good luck!!
